John Denver, a singer-songwriter of Colorado that specialized in folk music, has touched the hearts of millions. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was raised in Roswell New Mexico. However, he discovered love for Colorado. The singer-songwriter eventually moved to Aspen. Denver's famous anthems about Colorado have been a major influence on many to relocate to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated the following: John Denver was by far one of the most well-known musicians who was a symbol of Colorado. Denver was a member of the Hall of Fame as its the first member in 2011. Denver is today the international face of Colorado. When I travel, you will meet people on opposite sides of the world. As an example, you might meet someone from New Zealand. And when you say that you are Colorado-based, Colorado the response is "Oh John Denver!" Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads - cowritten with Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo singer after a brief stint in small folk bands. Danoff wrote the song along with Johnny Cash in mind but after Denver was introduced to an earlier version it was clear that it was destined to be an instant hit. Just a few days after the performance to a throng of fans on the streets of Washington D.C., the artist recorded the song.
